Compassion and CompetencyOur excellent team of staff members come from a diverse background of educational, employment, and life experience settings. This variety is exactly the quality that makes our team so perfectly suited to serve the many needs of our participants and their families. Overall, our staff have an average of seven years of services with Adult Care of Chester County and sixteen of our staff members have been with us for over ten years.
Every team member provides care from the heart, grounded in a dedication to excellence. Our staff are highly trained and educated in the field of adult day services and able to offer participants high quality state of the art care.
Direct Care Staff
At the heart of what we do are our direct care program staff. Our program assistants work as a team to organize and lead activities, help participants with personal care, serve lunch, and support participants emotionally. They get to know the participants very well and form relationships as they work daily with the same group of people. One of our direct care staff members was awarded the Direct Care Staff Award in 2008. This recognized her outstanding person-centered skills, communication techniques, dedication, creativity, and teamwork attitude.
Our nurses boast an impressive resume of experience in geriatric nursing. Collectively, they have served a total of over 70 years providing nursing care at ACCC. They have backgrounds in pediatric care, rehabilitation, urology, school nursing, and ICU care. Our nurses provide care during all hours that our centers are open and perform all hands-on nursing care themselves. Medication administration, regular checks of weight and vital signs, and assessments all fall to our expert nursing staff.
Our Certified Music Therapist, Penny Hatrick, has been with us since 1994. Music and rhythm have a power that sometimes even speech does not have and individuals affected by aphasia, dementia, and post-stroke challenges often retain the ability to sing and dance. Penny uses music to enrich the lives of our participants through instrumentation, sing-along's, dancing opportunities, and music appreciation.
Our President/CEO, Patricia Shull, RN is a leader in the field of adult day services with experience in the leadership teams of both PADSA (The Pennsylvania Adult Day Services Association) and NADSA (The National Adult Day Services Association). As the founder of Adult Care of Chester County, she has also shepherded the organization through its many changes over the years while staying true to the mission to help caregivers and to give dependent adults a place to thrive.
